The Team at My Story

Murray Davies

Murray Davies is a qualified social worker and has worked as a practitioner and manager in child protection and child and adolescent mental health services for many years.

He has extensive experience using creative therapies such as play therapy, drama or art therapy, to enable young people to express their wishes and feelings through an activity. This experience has been applied to the use of digital technology to support young people to share and record their views and experiences.

His research has included Children’s Perceptions of Service Quality for a Master’s Degree at Bradford University.

His publications include as editor and contributor to ‘Empowerment and Participation in Child Protection’, and author of among other articles: ‘Partnership from the Child’s Perspective’, ‘Using Computer Assisted Self Interviewing to Facilitate Consultation and Participation with Vulnerable Young People’ and ‘Improving Participation of Children in Care in Western Australia’.

He worked with the predecessor of the General Social Care Council to develop training materials for supervisors in child abuse cases, and the Department of Health England to draft Guidelines for Management of Child Sexual Abuse Cases

Heulwen Rees

Heulwen Rees has an MA in Human Resources and is a former member of the British Psychological Society. She is currently Head of Learning and Development with an organisation supporting children’s participation, and works internationally

She has extensive experience training social workers in a national child protection agency in the UK, is a qualified psychometric assessor and qualified career coach. Heulwen has 30 years’ experience developing and delivering learning resources to staff supporting children and young people.

Over the past 10 years she has developed and managed the delivery of web-based learning resources and contributed to the development of mobile device apps for children and young people.

Judy Garsed

Judith Garsed qualified in social work in the UK and completed post-graduate child protection studies at the University of London Goldsmiths. Her extensive career has taken her from statutory child protection agencies in London to several Australian jurisdictions where she has worked on the front line at practitioner, supervisory and management levels.

In 2022 she stepped down from her role as Advocate for Children in Care in Western Australia where she provided personal advocacy services for children and young people in care and developed policy and practice to promote their participation in decisions and service provision. She is a qualified trainer, having designed and delivered training, workshops and online resources for professionals and carers across the Sector. Judith has contributed to texts about improving participation by children and young people in care.

Mike Moulder

Dr Mike Moulder was Head of Budget Finance and Procurement (BFP) at Eurojust (equivalent to Chief Financial Officer). Eurojust, and its sister agency Europol, are both based in the Hague and are agencies of the European Commission.

Mike is a Professor at ESSCA , and at PPA/IPE where he is also Director of Masters Programme Studies. Both are Grandes Ecoles in France with campuses in many countries, specializing in business management. He was previously Lecturer at Kent Business School, University of Kent. Previously he was Head of School at St Patricks London.

Mike is multi-lingual with extensive international experience covering Europe, USA and Asia in many sectors.

He has worked with organisations of all sizes across a wide range of sectors including education, technology, manufacturing and non-profit. He empowers board-level decision making through a depth of expertise in finance, marketing, sales, HR, operations, finance and risk management.

Mike is a NED of the Viewpoint Organisation, as well as Be The Business (for SMEs) and Startups Business Advisory Group (SBAG), for startups

Mike brings a wealth of experience in fundraising and financial management to the My Story Organisation.

Aaron Badgley

As a youngster, Aaron Badgley developed a profound love of The Beatles and music in general, also developing a fascination with record labels. At the age of 19, he started working in radio and by 20, he was a production manager for a number of stations in Canada. In 2005, Aaron debuted his syndicated radio show The Beatles Universe, which ran for six years. He left the world of radio to return to University, where he earned an MSW from University Of Toronto. From there he went to work in Child Welfare (Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto). where he worked primarily with youth in care. He eventually became a supervisor and worked on several province wide groups including Violence Against Women.

Currently, he is the host of the weekly radio show Here Today. He co-hosts two radio shows, From Memphis To Merseyside and Eight Days This Week (with Tony Stuart). He writes for Spill Magazine and Immersive Audio Album, and has also contributed to the All Music Guide. He recently had his first book published, Dark Horse Records: George Harrison's Post Beatles Record Label.

Aaron resides in Toronto, Canada.

Alan Paull

Alan has over 20 years commercial experience in planning, designing and developing data driven software applications with extensive experience in the full software development lifecycle. His experience includes application development in children's social care, knowledge management and banking in Europe, North America and Australia. Alan has led the development of several mobile device applications including for the World Health Organisation displaying and speaking text in multiple languages for use in countries in South-East Asia and the South Pacific. This experience has been invaluable in the development of the My Story app. He has a BSc (Hon) Business Information Systems from Sheffield Hallam University UK.
